I was asked that. Why not leave all of the kids r first web site open? Fair question.
Several reasons. The first and foremost is for privacy. Ours. The member’s blog allows for that. No one can just happen by and read it. Or comment. Only people who “get it”. They get why you are here and what you are going through. These same people in turn share books and links. And if there is an event its shared within. For you. Our members. Our new member survey gives us just enough background to try to “connect” a similar member who has walked this road ahead of them. A mentor if you will and only if requested. We can explore the idea of having group meetings for our “members” kids. The section has a survey about the CT Parenting Education Program. (I am researching a similar program in MA and will have a survey about that when completed.) The board who oversees the CT program will be receptive to the results and what “you” have to say if we can document how many members we have. Not who. How many. Our goal for members is 900 by years’ end. In 2010 the population in CT was 3,574,097. Nearly 11 percent of the population was divorced. That’s almost 400 thousand people. Granted not all had kids. Granted not all were “recent”. But think of how many of them walked ahead of us. 900 doesn’t scratch the surface. And please remember. You are not alone. "just a dad"
