in 2010 published "Guidelines for Child Custody Evaluations in Family Law Proceedings.” These Guidelines provide general information for psychologists, but failed to address specific aspects or procedures for how to conduct a child custody evaluation. In particular, the 2010 Guidelines do not mention the words “parental alienation.”
The APA is now revising the 2010 Guidelines and they have invited comments from mental health professionals as well as the general public. They want comments from APA members and also non-members. Anyone can comment, but the deadline is August 1, 2018. http://apps.apa.org/commentcentral2/Default.aspx?site=52. Here you can easily download the previous Guidelines that were published in 2010. You can also download the Comment Form Instructions. Thanks to our friend Elaine Cobb for this info. More can be found here. http://www.familyaccessfightingforchildrensrights.org "just a dad"
