In CT all parents considering divorce must take the PEP. This is how the regulation reads.
"Parenting education programs are classes designed to educate adults about the many issues children face when their family situation changes. The program trains participants about how to help children adjust in a healthy way to divorce or living apart from a parent."
"If you have children under age 18, you must participate in a parenting education program within 60 days after a family case is filed in court. All parties involved in divorce, dissolution of a civil union, annulment, separation, custody or visitation cases are required by law to participate in a parenting education program."
When I took the class they never touched based on Parental Alienation. I wish they had. I wish I knew what PA was before I became a member of a club I had no desire to join. I would have approached things differently. The good news is that we can affect change. This class is a way to reach hundreds of thousands of parents and teach them what parental alientaion is. And how harmful it can be.
To do this we need data. PLEASE take this survey. Share it with anyone you know in CT. We can then share your info with the board that oversees this program and lobby them to change the curriculum.
The survey is here. Thanks
