to all of you who stopped by to visit Kids r First this past week. A welcome to our new members. The password to our members section is now the original one. We hope that more of you who visited and found our books and links to be helpful will consider joining. A reminder that we have doubled the number of recommended books. The member's blog is again open.

Why is there a Member's section at all?

I was asked that. Why not leave all of the kids r first web site open? Fair question.

Several reasons. The first and foremost is for privacy. Ours. The member’s blog allows for that. No one can just happen by and read it. Or comment. Only people who “get it”. They get why you are here and what you are going through. These same people in turn share books and links. And if there is an event its shared within. For you. Our members.

Our new member survey gives us just enough background to try to “connect” a similar member who has walked this road ahead of them. A mentor if you will and only if requested.

We can explore the idea of having group meetings for our “members” kids.

The section has a survey about the CT Parenting Education Program. (I am researching a similar program in MA and will have a survey about that when completed.) The board who oversees the CT program will be receptive to the results and what “you” have to say if we can document how many members we have. Not who. How many.

Our goal for members is 900 by years’ end.  In 2010 the population in CT was 3,574,097. Nearly 11 percent of the population was divorced. That’s almost 400 thousand people. Granted not all had kids. Granted not all were “recent”. But think of how many of them walked ahead of us.

900 doesn’t scratch the surface. And please remember. You are not alone.

Its a very cool app. I was a bit taken aback when I read the recommended ages (as the kids I know using it are under 13). That said there are some good suggestions here in regards to privacy.

Common sense media is a good resource. Check out their "do you know what 420 means" article? Are you in the "weeds"...?

Member's section and Parental Alienation Awareness Day

4/19/2018

April 25th is Parental Alienation Awareness day...everywhere in the world. Starting this Sunday April 22nd through Saturday April 28th the Member's section will be made available to everyone. The new password will be PA. Your regular password will not work during that time frame.

We hope you will stop by to see what is available to our members. Feel free to take any of the surveys there.

We do have a request. If you have a book that really helped you or a go to web site then please share them with us via one of the submission forms there. We will post them after review.

And of course consider joining.

Please note that all of the personal postings on the member's blog have been removed. There was one somewhat generic one that the member was ok in our leaving up. The blog will start anew on the 29th.

Some technical stuff

The SSL on kids r first is now new and improved. This means a safer connection for you when you are here. That said there was some small fallout in that "likes" here on the blog were deleted. Some comments from days gone by may also have been impacted.
All said a happy Monday!
